One of the awesome things about this camp is when you arrive for camp that week all the campers and staff line up and wait for your child. When they arrive, their name is said over loud speakers and everyone chants their name and jumps around welcoming them. It is just a really awesome thing to experience and makes you feel so welcome. This isn’t done for just one camper, it is done for every camper that arrives every week! Another really awesome part about this camp is kids can come as early as 7 and they don’t age out of being able to come to the camp!

Camp Barnabas is a special needs camp so it has to provide more than just your average summer camp. There are special cooks to help with the dietary needs of your children. Their main focus at camp is to make sure all of the dietary needs are met of all the kids! Meals are provided to fit into any allergies or dietary restrictions your child may have including gluten free, lactose free, and diabetic friendly meals just to name a few! There is also a full trained medical staff onsite at all times to help with all medications, feeding tubes, and any other daily medical needs that your child has to have taken care of! When your child is at Camp Barnabas you can rest assured that they are being taken care of just as you would be at home. All while having the time of their life!

All campers are assigned a “missionary” to help them with any tasks they might need help with throughout their week at camp. They are also assigned into cabins with other kids their age and with similar disabilities so they can have an easier time bonding and feel more comfortable in their surroundings.

One of my favorite things about this place is that no matter your financial status you will be welcomed here. There are scholarships available to those who might not be able to afford sending their child to summer camp under normal circumstances. This is such a great summer camp! They also offer week long camp or a day camp if you aren’t quite ready to be away from them for an extended period of time!

Camp Barnabas is a Christian based summer camp whose main goal is to show others the love of Christ in every aspect. This is why the volunteers that work one-on-one with the campers everyday are called missionaries. Christ always comes first, they aspire to inspire people to realize their abilities and exceed expectations.

This camp is a wonderful experience for anyone with or without special needs. The staff at the camp strives to make sure everyone feels included and loved. Everyone who comes to camp leaves changed in a better way just from the wonderful experience they have had while at camp. You will not be disappointed if you choose to let your child attend this camp!
